street sign   Another Market season is winding to a close, and we are going to finish off with a bang! We loved the location for the last Market so much that we're going to do it again! Please join us in our new location: Bonner Street at Main, just south of Surprise! Cafe. Watch this space for more information about vendors, activities, and maybe a bit of news about the future of the Saturday Market (hint: it's good news).

Fall is definitely in the air, and there's plenty of fall goodness to be found at the Saturday Market this weekPeppe  - this week only, held at Bonner and Main in Cedarville, just south of the Surprise! Cafe. You'll find winter and summer squash, garlic, tomatoes, eggplant, greens, cottage foods, crafts, and of course the friendliest crowd of vendors and customers in Surprise Valley on Saturday. This is the last Market before our mid-October Harvest Festival, so make sure you come by on the way to or from soccer, yard sailing, the Moujamnt Bidwell celebration honoring the Elders in Fort Bidwell, or any of the other wonderful activities that you can enjoy in our beautiful valley on a perfect fall day. See you in the park!

The seasons are changing, but at least one wonderful thing continues: our Surprise Valley producers, crafters, and other vendors are busy getting ready to meet you in the park for a perfect morning of community and local goodness. Our producers' gardens are still overflowing with healthy, perfect produce - come see us, say hello, and leave with a smile and an armful of Surprise Valley's best.

Our featured recipe this week is simple and elegant: Ratatouille Tian from 'The French Market Cookbook'. Bring home the ingredients from the Market, and wow your family!  See you in the park!

Thanks to all the steadfast customers who braved the wind last weekend for our "fifth Saturday of the month" Market, and to the dedicated vendors who come to the park Market after Market with delicious evidence of hard work, dedication, expertise (and a little luck). This Saturday we have another Market scheduled and we would love to see you!

The fair is over, the kids are back in school (so they'll need something special in their lunchboxes), and it's time for your end of summer barbecue. This year, try grilling up some veggies from the market - you'll wonder how you ever got along without them! Here's a recipe from Bon Apetit magazine - it's for zucchini, but you can try this with almost any veggie you get from the market. See you in the park!
